While resting up in Frankfurt, we decided to take a day trip to visit Heidelburg. It was a relatively short train trip made longer because we didn’t realize we had to change trains in Mannheim!

It is a picturesque city of about 150,000 on the Neckar River. The old Heidelburg Castle overlooks the town and there is a funicular that takes you up to the castle.
